Brooklyn Presbyterian Church, Oakland, CA (c. 1887)
Brooklyn Presbyterian Church houses some of the largest stained glass windows of any church in Oakland. Built in 1887 from old-growth California redwood with windows brought by train from Chicago, the church experienced deferred maintenance, and its windows were badly damaged by vandalism and water ingress. It is now under secular ownership whose vision includes restoration of the building and service of the community.
The conservation of the West Gallery window, seen below, involved full releading and replacement of over 200 glass pieces in 40+ colors.
Venetian Compote (20th c.)
This mouth-blown Venetian Compote was broken in two through the body of the figurine. Bamboo sticks were used to stabilize the piece while the conservation epoxy cured.
